I completely agree with this and the post you responded to from Marvel. The Republicans have been poisoning the well for decades and have completely abandoned good faith governing in purposeful pursuit of this outcome. Trump is a symptom of this disease, but the GOP set this course a long time ago and is responsible for it.

The electorate is a close second. They have all the information they need to make good decisions, including a disastrous first Trump term and a literal coup attempt on live TV. But our voters are too lazy, gullible, and adverse to critical thought to have basic good judgment. We take democracy for granted, and dont take voting seriously, as if democracy is always going to be there for sure. Our ridiculous electorate being so easy to manipulate is how the GOP knew they could get away with getting us to this point.

Everything else has some responsibility, but is very far down the list of our problems.
