Elected officials actually vote on/enact legislation that effects milions of people. Many such politicians I've criticized are directly complicit in ongoing atrocities. That is well above "saying stupid offensive shit".

No. Hogan was a shitty dude and I don't miss him. But saying stuff like, "not gonna interrupt mourning Ozzy!" when realistically Ozzy did way worse stuff than Hogan is crossing lines. A hateful bigot is still below someone who actually physically hurt people in terms of sin.
