That's awful to hear. I've only called adult protective services one time, and it went nowhere. I was reporting suspected abuse of a high school senior, but because they were 18, CPS said they couldn't help, and directed me to adult protective services. Adult protective services they said that they only intervene in cases where it's elder abuse, or the victim has a severe disability. They advised that I call the sheriff, which I did, and the sheriff checked things out, but that amounted to nothing as well.

That being said, I see no downside to calling and, at the very least, seeing if this is something that they may be able to intervene in. I wish you the best with your situation.
