In the context of battle boarding here, bloodlusted means using full power without inhibitions even in an out of character way. It doesn't mean deliberately put yourself in a disadvantageous position for short term advantage.

If you pull out kryptonite against bloodlusted Superman, he'll run away and kill you with heat vision or throw heavy shit at you. He doesn't charge the kryptonite in a fury.

Running away and doubling back are real hunting strategies. And they do it specifically to rest if they fail to catch prey on their first attempt. And running away from an even bigger danger is a real strategy. There are admittedly not many things that threaten lions but when it does happen they will run.

Maybe a better question is "if you have a city full of nothing but toddlers, how many could a lioness kill in 5 days" as that's the only thing uncertain.
