It's not particularly bizarre to point out why the West has cared so much for protecting Ukraine and not so much for protecting Gazans. The support for one and the rejection of others are to advance goals which secure the financial security of those Western nations. And the lubrication that keeps that machine going is, unsurprisingly, white supremacy.

It's not "america bad" when we recognize that we should be helping Ukraine from imperialism but then critiquing when that imperialism is being used as leverage against Ukrainians. Like with the rare minerals deal. And when we then compare how what little good we achieve is tainted by this self-motivated desire and contrast it against the relative lack of good we did for Gazans.

If Gaza had resources that we couldn't more easily obtain by supporting Israel's genocide of Palestinians, you'd never hear a single politician talk about how Israel has a right to defend themselves. They would magically be able to recognize it's a genocide - and then leverage their aid for whatever said resource would be in this hypothetical. Just as they did with Ukraine.

Really weird to see this phrased in these terms. Can't believe broader Destiny/Asmon and the broader internet culture has really gotten away with branding any valid critique of the US as "tankie." Or well, I can. But I would hope people who are old enough to be posting here would be at least remember the very recent history of the Iraq war. Some of ya'll were even posting here back then, ffs.

The people being decried actively decry Ukrainians as Nazis, make excuses for Russia and paint Ukraine as the aggressor who needs to surrender or be stopped.

And not every conflict is the Iraq war.
