| Topic | I'm at war with a squirrel. |
| TMOG 06/09/25 12:44:05 PM #1: | I set up a bird feeder on my balcony, but no birds are coming by to eat the food because there's a squirrel that comes by and eats out of it instead. While I have no ill will towards this squirrel and don't want him to starve, I want the birds to eat the food, not the squirrel -- especially since I also grow veggies on my balcony with as tomatoes and peppers, which I don't want a squirrel disturbing. The route he takes to get to the bird feeder is climbing a tree at the side of my house, then jumping onto the roof, then onto the balcony. This squirrel has started peeking into my window to see if I'm distracted before completing the route to get to the feeder, but I've caught on to this and now pretend to not be looking so the squirrel climbs up onto the roof, then I get into position to immediately step outside the balcony door when he jumps onto the post. It works and immediately scares the squirrel off, but damn if this guy isn't determined to get at that seed. I have to step out there and frighten him off (not by yelling or flailing or anything, just stepping outside and making my presence known) at least every five minutes or so. Tempted to grab a super soaker and give him a good spray of water to really drive the point home, but I also don't want to frighten him TOO badly and cause him to fall and break a leg or something. I don't want this squirrel killed or injured, I just want him to leave my bird feeder alone so the birds can eat. :( ... Copied to Clipboard! |
