I have been able to play pick-up with a total of four NBA players before and after their time in the league; basketball is really big where I grew up. I went to HS with a former first round draft pick in the same class as me who had a really good NBA career and we were friends. Not close, but we hung out on occasion and played basketball together a few times. He always took it easy, as did the other NBA guys I rarely played with. Even then, he was clearly better than 10 of us amateurs combined. But one time our team pissed him off by hitting a few lucky shots. I will never forget it-he started dunking and hitting shots from everywhere. He blocked a shot of mine, and I still dont know where he came from to this day. One minute I was all alone, the next he had blocked one of my shots so hard it flew into next week. No average joe is hanging with any of these guys.
