We just didn't feel the cost as badly back then because we were kids/teens who likely didn't buy the games ourselves (our parents did, or we got them as gifts, or we rented them from Blockbuster or similar stores) and the economy was just stronger in general. But that doesn't change the fact that the prices have absolutely not changed from 30 years ago until today; we just notice it now because we're paying for the games with our own money, which doesn't stretch as far as it used to.When they moved to optical discs, they got a lot cheaper. I seem to remember PS1 games launching for $40, but I'm not convinced of that. PS2 games definitely launched at $50 though. --- Arguing on CE be all like: https://youtu.be/JpRKrs67lOs?si=kPGA2RCKVHTdbVrJ ... Copied to Clipboard! |
