Surprising in that I wasn't expecting to hear it today, but he had been in pretty poor health for about a decade. Still very sad though.

Apparently it was pneumonia that got him, but I'm sure that was just the final straw on a body that had been through multiple rounds of cancer and some pretty devastating after-effects from that.

I remember watching The Snowman and he could not speak and seemed to be barely able to stand. I actually paused the movie to Google when did Val Kilmer die because he looked to be in such rough shape I had assumed it already happened and that as 5+ years ago. Good on him for being able to fight for so long.
