Topic | Anti-vax father defends choice after daughter dies, cites lack of trust |
UnsteadyOwl 03/20/25 11:21:31 PM #85: | wackyteen posted... Unfortunately many of the children who died young in the 18th/19th century from these (now) preventable/treatable diseases never received gravestones or died too young to have names (infant mortality was so high you'd hold off giving a name). Sometimes families had so many kids die from disease they'd just bury them next to each other with simple grave markers.Right. Rejecting science and going back to what's "natural" means going back to the days when something like 30% or more of kids born died before the age of 5. The infant mortality rate came way down in the 20th century because of better hygiene, nutrition, and advances in medicine including vaccines. --- "It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose.
