It sounds like its two separate events.

He left the scene of an accident in a parking lot in which the victim was a raging Karen. He was having a shitty day and didnt want to deal with it. (Not the smartest thing but I get it).

They served an arrest warrant at his house at some later date. Waking him up taking him in and processing him only to release him shortly after.

Sucks man. Get a lawyer. It sounds like minor shit that the court system wont want to waste time on. Just make sure your employer knows whats going on and that you expect the charges to be dropped.
