Also like, from 2004 to 2017 Democrats went from a median of 4 to 2 and Republicans went from a median of 5 to about 7. There is barely any difference in their rate of change over the last 13 years. The only kind of interesting difference is that Democrats seem to have become more ideologically similar while Republicans seem to have become more ideologically diverse. But that has happened because the rightmost opinions have become more common, not an overall widening. The modal Republican value went from 5 to 8 in that time while the mode for Democrats has gone from 3 to 2 in other words this is actually showing a pretty significant rightwards shift for Musks guys. He cant even interpret this simple data.

I think they are just looking at the median lines and taking that to mean "republicans went from a 6 to a 6.5, we stayed the same! Democrats went from a 5 to a 2, they are radicalized!"

Meanwhile I am hard pressed to figure out which 6.5 questions you can pick the conservative answer for and not be a complete asshole.
