The only benefit after this loss is that I'm seeing Nothing But Thieves at The Met on Friday and now I don't have to worry about what Broad Street would be like win or lose after Game 5. There's gotta be some changes next season.
But where exactly? When the team is on, they're pretty unstoppable. Problem is, that can get shut off like a switch, and it has nothing to do with the opponent (like "June Schwarber"). Same thing happened at the end of the NLCS last year against the D-backs, and it was a problem with the team's last winning stretch from 2007-11. The offense just goes collectively cold, flailing at pitches outside the strike zone or getting weak contact on first pitches, giving opposing pitchers quick innings. Can never have a stretch where 2-4 guys are hot and 2-4 are cold, it's either feast or famine. Back during Charlie Manuel's days, when the team would go into a funk, he'd call a team meeting and blow up at the players and the team would right itself for a while. Don't think Thompson has ever done that. I don't think a perpetual hard-ass like Larry Bowa is the answer, but I've never heard of Thompson tearing into the players like Charlie would on occasion (or the times he pulled Rollins for not hustling).

The real surprise this series was the top leverage guys in the bullpen all faltered at the same time as the offense.
