They've definitely kicked it up a couple notches. Battles are brand new. They've only been in one set so far. Planeswalker and Kindred both officially debuted in Lorwyn in 2007. The others were all there from the beginning, along with Interrupt (deprecated in Sixth Edition in 1999).
