They came along right as nu metal was on its way out due to oversaturation of shit ass music, and they were the radio pop brand of nu metal. Compare Korn's first album with anything Linkin Park did and tell me there isn't a huge contrast between those two. My problem I always had with the label of "nu metal" is that it refers to what I view as a diverse group of genres, rather than one distinct genre.
