Eight years of work and $100+ million down the drain just to release what everyone outside the C-suite knew would be a colossal failure that ended up completely shutting down after just a couple of weeks and making barely 1% of its budget back. But why this game? Like, I don't play AAA games or action-shoot-y games, so from my PoV, yeah, this genre is oversatured, but tons of shooters and 5v5 and etc games come out all the time and they all look the same to me, this one looks generic but so do all the others, and yet most of them seem to do fine financially and people just keep playing every new one that comes out. So why did this one specifically get all the brunt of the "genre oversatured with generic copies" hate? To me it feels like it was just a narrative that caught on and once the game got labeled "a failure" it just couldn't escape due to the power of groupthink. I say this having no idea anything about the game though so it's a genuine question. ... Copied to Clipboard! |
