Who is the candidate that would have upside?

Almost anyone else considered lol. Vance is almost a bottom-tier pick, only above the insane lane of MTG/Vivek/Lake/Noem. He might simultaneously be an even more electorally useless pick than Tim Kaine and functionally useless pick than Kamala Harris. Vance:

- isn't particularly politically experienced or effective at campaigning.
- isn't particularly well-connected to the broader GOP donor or media class (only has a few prominent supporters like Thiel and Carlson). GOP's already dropping hit pieces on him.
- doesn't help ideologically unite the party, basically being a Trump duplicate.
- doesn't boost Trump in any swing states.
- doesn't help draw in any demographics Trump's shaky with.
- doesn't energize MAGA voters since he used to be anti-Trump. (I'm seeing him being called stuff like Romney 2.0, it's wild)
- doesn't entice non-MAGA voters since he's MAGA.

He's... really young? Well-spoken? Literally the only two benefits to his presence. Meanwhile he's moderate, suburban, woman, and minority repellant by being one of the most radical and repugnant MAGA trolls in the GOP.

Go over any other pick from the 2000s and I can work out the logic for choosing them. This is transparently just Trump picking the guy who kissed his ass the best.
