The only formal responsible thing to do is for him to resign and declare Harris as the new president and incumbent candidate. I mean some won't vote for her because of her "electability" or some poor excuse, despite her being overly qualified.

But you see, nobody actually wants Biden to quit now, because they can't for the life of them pinpoint a single distressing misstep he's done in actual governance. They just don't want him to run again and rather hand it over when his time is up in January, which is absolutely bonkers. Like the two rules of thought there make zero sense.
