But when you're running against a strongman type politician you can't just go with reasonable. They hate weakness. Strongmen thrive on acting tough and pouncing on any sign of weakness. This is just giving him ammunition. And imagine if they actually DID switch candidates this late. Trump would NEVER stop mocking them about that. Every single day, every single interview, "Those Democrats, huh? Can't keep a candidate for more than a month huh? What losers."
