I mean, I'd figure any beaters being used that way are only beaters on the outside.

That said when I was in rehab I got told by a used car salesman also in rehab (we had like 4... must be a stressful job) to never buy a former cop car. Said the mileage might look good but you have to consider how long it's sat idle with the engine running.
