The grill on these trucks are literally head height.

In conventional car design, you will be hit, you'll roll over the hood and off the roof of the car. You'll definitely break your legs but you might survive.

In a truck (and often, it has a bullbar) you are getting smacked by a 7tonne wall of steel to the face. The only thing that's crumpling is your skull.
