I found this article to be very accurate with regards to what is happening right now though not necessary for this reason. The standard for who gets to express free speech and who doesn't really depends on the politics of the protestors. The problem is, in my opinion, an any anything goes standard was set in 2020 during the George Floyd protestors, "Fiery but mostly peaceful" as it were. That apparent standard changed on January 6th then it seemingly changed back for the Israel/Palestine conflict initially but AIPAC is making their presence known and the political response to anti-war protesting has been severe here. This whiplash on the standard for free speech really highlights that free speech is only allowed with the power centers behind the scenes allow for it. When they don't it is swiftly snuffed out.
