I think there eventually needs to be a large societal study about this. It makes no sense for tens of millions of people to believe what Donald Trump is selling over and over.

There are many studies on cults, which Trump and his supporters are ones. There will no doubt be deeper dives into his specific cult, but that won't likely come until the dust has settled on his legacy.

The people who are going to unironically parrot this sentiment will have already memory-holed the fact that Trump has sued multiple press outlets, the most recent being the NYT, whose $300k legal fees he was ordered to pay.
