Many have made the argument that we are so much better at preventing fires these days (sprinkler system), that it's worth revisiting some older regulations that might have been made with fire prevention in mind. Maybe, but it only ever takes one incident or one idiot in an apartment complex. Somebody did "something" in my last building that filled the whole building with smoke. No fire fortunately but a close enough call that I moved out within 3 months. They never even evicted the guy responsible.
