Again, I don't have a picture perfect memory of the topic.

I specifically do remember people telling me "This game probably isn't for you. Don't waste your time with it."

That seems like an aggressive statement to make. Like I'm not welcome in the BG3 community.

I guess there were people saying to try it out too? Idk, you tell me. You are the one that has all of this in front of you. Idk how you even looked it up, but from what I remember people were being very rude and hostile to me for not being into western RPGs and fantasy. The positive response may not have left as much of an impression on my memory because they weren't as "loud".
