This is a foregone conclusion if they're capable of interstellar travel in the first place.There's a short story out there with the premise that interstellar travel is actually really easy and most civilizations discover it around the time they discover iron working, but humans missed it for some reason and get invaded by aliens with muskets. I'll try to find it.
