Voting 3rd party signals to both parties that you're an active voter yet neither major platforms appeal to you. A big enough base forces both parties to rethink their strategies in attempt to appeal to you. I get this is unrealistic as your individual vote means even less in deciding the presidency if you're not in a swing state, but it still sends a message. I wouldn't ever discredit voting simply to make your voice heard.

This is why it's so hard. I don't like telling people that 3rd party is a wasted vote, but fact of the matter is that no third party candidate has ever gotten more than 5% of the vote in decades. If the candidates were more milquetoast this year, I probably wouldn't bother...

But, that's not what is happening here. Every election with Trump is a horrid gamble. Everyone can and should be voting Blue because the outcome of a Red victory means the loss of so much.
