Those look amazing! It was interesting. The sky was clear and snow reflected ambient light; the ground didn't go completely dark. I took the shots from my back deck, wearing a welder's helmet and wielding an SLR camera on the end of a tripod. [ This was probably the most irl LOTR "Eye of Sauron" moment I've had in my life. lol ] . As the moon's shadow crossed, the light dimmed, the air temperature dropped, and wind started rushing in. I wanted to get a more panoramic series of shots of the horizon, but the light level dropped too fast. When I tilted back to focus on the dead-center for shots of the corona, the camera sensor kept catching the edge and flaring. https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/0/0f9c0394.jpg Keeping focus: When the sensor caught the corona, the moon shrank to a pinhole before everything went white. . The gusting wind also made the camera shake, making keeping the shots steady a lot more difficult. https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/f/fca740e3.jpg Parting shot: I tried to get a clear shot of the sun emerging, but the wind was "having none of that." --- '~' ...
