it sure is

if i notice if i lost a 20, then there sure as heck are other people who would

i worked 6 years of retail, its not uncommon for people to come looking. 20 dollars is a lot of money

I have worked retail for 18 years. I've seen this happen more times then I can count and I can think of the times we've returned someone's money on one hand and the amount was always over $100. At my last job my boss became so callous if someone found anything she would laugh and say "well I guess it's ours now." Then she would use it as her own petty cash.

Every job I ever worked always had a clause if you didn't put it in the register, you could be fired. Once it's in the register, it's basically lost. Not every cashier and person was kept fully informed and messages would get lost consistently. Large amounts were kept tighter track of it but it was always amounts of $75+

plus its not urs (the general you, re the prompt)

It's not the company's either but it's not like they will keep a seperate safe for lost money. If the day passes and you don't claim it, it is gone gone.
