RetuenOfDevsman 04/05/24 5:25:13 PM #21: | Nah I don't buy this whole existence by contrast thing at a fundamental level. It's at best axiomatic, in a "well, because that just makes sense to me" kind of way. But I maintain that making sense to you hardly constitutes proof.
I could absolutely see if, on the contrary, contrast is not necessary to existence. For example, if we lived in a world where the only wavelength of light were exactly 575nm, this being a shade of yellow, we probably wouldn't have a concept of color. It's hard to say; maybe someone could come up with color as a thought experiment, I don't know. After all, we live in a 3D world yet and there are plenty of mathematics relating to 4, 5, 6 and up dimensional geometry. Anyway. Supposing we didn't have a concept of color, that doesn't mean that wavelength of light isn't yellow. Just that we haven't named it. --- I have a signature now so shut up ... Copied to Clipboard! |
