Sometimes, if you pull your punches enough, you can get an honest response from even a subreddit that's extremely positive, but you have to be really careful. To the point it's hardly worth it a lot of the time.

The upvote/downvote system tends to degenerate into that state.
What really bites for me, is that people will associate you with the worst people if you happen to have one overlapping opinion. Like for what Marvel said, complaining about a certain aspect of a series will immediately make you a hater. And it's hard to elaborate further to differentiate yourself, because they don't try to prod you for your reasoning, they just downvote and move on.
