This. It's a pain in the ass to deal with it constantly. Especially when you're somewhere like the desert where you need heat resistant armor during the day, but you start taking damage from the cold at night. So you have to carry 2 sets of armor around pretty much at all times.

It's a cool mechanic when you reach a new biome that you can't explore yet without crafting better temperature resistant armor. But after you've crafted the highest tier armor, it gets annoying to have to keep switching.
