I know you said real time but one of my favorite turn based strategy games of all time was on the NES and it was called Genghis Khan and it was awesome. if you can find a way to play it I still think it is badass and actually challenging. I just felt like mentioning it. This was back in the day when Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Nobunaga's Ambition was in its early stages. NES?
