Topic | How often does relatability factor into storytelling for you? |
LeCh0nk 03/23/24 9:41:23 AM #24: | IMO the worst thing an author can do is try to make a character "relatable." A character should be written how the author sees them, and if they so happen to be relatable, that's great. In a well rounded story, most readers should identify with at least one character, I think.
And relatability should always be based on upbringing and personality, not have anything to do with race or religion. I, as a brown man, can relate to a white character. And a white person should be able to relate to a non-white person. --- @('_')@ ... Copied to Clipboard! |
