While I appreciate the sentiment and realize that you mean well, it sucks living with issues like social awkwardness and obsessive interests and if there's an opportunity to be rid of it I'm taking it.
Being autistic is an intrinsic part of how our brain works, equating it with the negative side effects (some of which are the result of societal prejudice to begin with) is what people find offensive, and it's impossible to "cure" unless you completely erase a person. Which means treating a cure as possible or desirable harms autistic people by spreading the idea that our core existence is an external disease, and diverting resources that should be used to actually help autistic people. Trying to find a cure is a distraction from effort that could be made to help you with the parts that are harming you.
