Right now, the death penalty allows up to 30 extra years in jail to exhaust all evidence. Now, I'm for that if we don't know if the person did it. But if you have someone committing mass murder, and you caught them in the act, there really shouldn't be any point where you have people coming in to "interview" them for some book of "why I did what I did". It should be short and swift. And for those individuals it wouldn't be humane.
