When he tried to write happy songs, he failed. His lullaby "Goodnight my Angel" is low-key creepy and predicts his own death or abandonment. "Just the Way You Are" proudly declares he doesn't want to talk about anything deep, ever, with anyone. "The Entertainer" is 100% angst at having the execs cut the playtime of "Piano Man."
