Minneapolis is about to enter the Find Out phase of such stupid policies.

A lot can happen between now and May 1st.

Uber and Lyft could be bluffing and they stick around afterwards.

The Minneapolis City Council could negotiate with them to pass a wage they would find acceptable. I dont foresee that happening at all.

The state could step in and pass a wage law which would override the city ordinance. I think this is the most likely scenario to happen for a number of reasons.

  1. The legislature is currently in session.
  2. Legislators on both sides have said they do not want Uber and Lyft leaving.
  3. Uber was already actively negotiating with the legislature on passing a rideshare wage bill this year. Then the activists on the city council had to fucking throw a wrench into everything.
Yeah, I dont envision the state allowing MSP to be the only metro area in the country without Uber. Somethings going to happen.
