Well, no we don't because the story doesn't say that. It doesn't even say that they had to remain evil. They chose to.

And, if were going to be dogmatic like this, then the destruction of the 99% of evil 1% of good should mean God would be good should it not?

Second, are you saying that all "sin" should receive the punishment of death?

But their "sin" didn't HAVE to recieve the punishment of death. Thats kinda the point.

Oh, how fucking gracious that an evil god gave his creations a chance before he smite'd the fuck out of them

You're siding alot with the violent thieving murderous abusers here and attributing all blame onto God for his response to that being harsh. Thats certainly a take.

It was the good people suffering, or the bad people suffering at the end of the day. That was the situation, warnings were given, opportunities had to avoid the consequences. Is the wolf evil for eating the boy who cried wolf, or were those just consequences of poor decision making?

You cant have it both ways and say that God was evil for making them evil, but that he is also evil for removing the evil. If they're made evil, wouldn't it be good that he destroyed them, and if they're not made evil, when how is he evil for cresting them?

You're right that this particular protagonist, if you will, is extremely flawed like protagonists in other stories about fictional characters.

Not all of those characters are portrayed, nor viewed as flawed though. Many get called righteous and heroic.
