This is an important distinction because sometimes people conflate body dysmorphic disorder (sometimes called body dysmorphia informally) and gender dysphoria because the spelling is similar. BDD (body dysmorphic disorder) has nothing to do with being trans and is when a person has a delusional / warped perception of themselves, and which can be treated with psychotherapy.
