The only one I didn't see was Zone, and I feel like this was an incredibly weak year overall. Holdovers was lackluster, flower moon felt closer to a tv movie (I get that's the point, since it was a radio show or some shit, that I assume Marty listened to as a kid), Oppenheimer and anatomy were court room dramas more than anything.

Past lives was fantastic, Barbie was near perfect, and poor things was innovative and completely original and batshit insane and American Fiction while fantastic didn't really feel like an Oscar film, though quite a few of these films didn't really feel that way either.

This year kind of reminds me when Shape of Water won. None of these movies are objectively bad, but none really feel all that grand and most just feel Oscar baity.

Anyway, I'm on board with Poor Things winning whatever it was nominated for because it an entirely original film I hadn't seen anything like it before.

Just realized Maestro is on there, don't think I heard a thing about that besides the makeup controversy.
