That's where the actual controversy starts. The rest of it is just "consulting firm gives awful advice, game companies follow the advice, the game sucks, people don't want to play more games with similar problems, people follow a steam page to keep track of games associated with the consulting company, consulting company becomes very upset"
What is considered awful advice?
