I dunno, however they find like thirty randoms to interview for every other news story ever. I get your point, but I also feel like they mainly do that when there's no specific "subject" of the story, such as "Park X is about to be bulldozed," or whatever. In this particular case, there actually WAS a specific subject of the story: The guy who had his radio tower stolen.
