This is not Trump getting away with anything. He had to put up the full bond to appeal. Given his track record, it's not likely that he will come up with the legal grounds to win on appeal.
I do want to emphasize this bit. There are few issues in this case that are subject to de novo review, which means the appellate court considers the issue without regard for the district court's conclusions. Most errors raised will be subject to review for abuse of discretion (usually regarding evidentiary matters and will not be reversed absent a fairly obvious misapplication of the law) and clear error review (usually regarding fact finding, and the factual conclusions basically need to be wholly unsupported by the evidence).

These are generally steep standards of review that are difficult to win on appeal. I'll wait and see what the briefs say, but I don't expect success that will overturn the verdict and judgment.
