All the crime data your ilk show are in relation to pandemic levels of crime which will obviously be higher.

Transit crime, which this measure is attempting to quell, is most certainly up.

From Forbes.com:

13.1%. - Thats how much crime on the transit system has increased, as of March 3, compared to the same time period last year in New York City, according to NYPD data. There have been 388 incidents from Jan. 1 to March 3 this yearthe majority of which have been grand larceny and felony assaultcompared to 343 last year. The majority of last years crimes through early March were grand larceny and robbery, according to the data.
