How is it not fair? Designed characters versus face and body scanned characters that often touch upon the uncanny valley is the most apt comparison for this discussion.because they're supposed to be very different. you can of course prefer one over the other, and i agree about the facescanning, i will always prefer a character designed by a professional artist, but anime is supposed to be perfect, ideal, attractive, not realistic or gritty or anything. which is fine, don't misunderstand my point, but it's like comparing anime to western cartoons, they're supposed to be different --- No clues, no trace No hands, no face ...
