The power disparity between Russia and Ukraine isn't nearly as big as that between Israel and Gaza. There's a much larger risk of a Russian soldier actually dying in combat than there is for an Israeli soldier. Thus, self-preservation is an obvious motive for Russian soldiers to flee/surrender at the first opportunity.

Likewise, Russia is simply a bad place to live for most people. Especially for the ethnic minorities who are vastly overrepresented among Russia's conscripted soldiers. Even while under Russian bombardment, Ukraine is still probably a better place to live than anywhere in Russia that's not Moscow, Saint Petersburg, and possibly some of the other large cities like Novosibirsk and Nizhny Novgorod. So defecting to Ukraine would be a lifestyle upgrade. And even better if they could flee to western Europe or America.

There's also the fact that while Ukrainians have been oppressed many times by Russia throughout Russian history, Russians never grew up being taught that Ukrainians are their mortal enemy. While that is exactly what Israelis grew up being taught about Palestinians.

Your joking right? The gap in power between Russa and Ukriane is far greater. Russia is one of the most powerful nations in the world...and no can help Ukraine because otherwise Putin will destroy the entire planet while Israel is surrounded by nations that hate them and want to destroy them just for being Jews.

The entire war with Ukraine is to sate Putin's ego while Israel is getting vengeance for the massacre from Hamas...fighting with the same people for half a century if not more.

I'm not pleased with the current powers that be but its not like Palestine/ Gaza is blameless...its two sides that hate each other for life times and clearly will never trust each other.
