It was better to consolidate all their resources/development time/energy and cost into one console. And it worked. And it's not like Sony or MS is competing in the handheld market. The Wii and DS existing together were an anomaly that will never happen again. 3DS and Wii U were a shit show, especially the latter. --- Less is more.
