I got up until the middle of Disc 2 before realizing summoning Shiva over and over isn't working much anymore and looked up how to properly junction. Which is also about the time I started enjoying the game, hah

I got to the (disc 3?) fight against Raijin and Fujin just summoning over and over the whole game. It was agonizingly slow and tedious, but if I didn't have a GF tanking hits, I'd get murdered by everything immediately. When even GFs couldn't take it anymore, I gave up. Later I read that you're better off junctioning as much as possible and never leveling and started again and it was indeed a much more enjoyable experience. Never bothered learning the card game, but it didn't take too long to draw grind and refine cards from enemies, which doesn't break the game but does make it playable.
