The moment you set out with a goal like "kill someone but minimize suffering" you've already failed. It doesn't really matter how you kill someone. They're going to be dead when you're done. What difference does it make if the last 5 minutes if their life was torture? "Killing" and "minimize suffering" are opposed ideals.
